Technical Specialist

The Technical Specialist position revolves around supporting customers through new projects and troubleshooting current application challenges, doing so by sharing relevant knowledge relating to our products, current industry environment, and understanding the customer’s needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    • Supporting internal and external customers with relevant industry and product knowledge
    • Presenting at short courses and other educational opportunities
    • Answering phone calls and emails from new and existing customers seeking product recommendations
    • Creation of product content for marketing and sales
    • Attending trade shows
    • Building and maintaining multi-level contacts with key customers and striving to understand their challenges, triumphs, and priorities through in-person visits and routine communication
    • Running and coordinating internal and external trials
    • Creating custom blend formulas
    • Performing other duties as requested
Required Knowledge and Skills
    • 5+ years of experience in the cheese making process
    • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, or relevant experience
    • Time-management skills to handle multiple tasks to meet deadlines that contribute to short and longterm goals
    • Must be a self-starter with drive and initiative to work both independently with little supervision and in a small team environment
    • Critical thinking skills to apply technical understanding and application to solve customer challenges
    • Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts and solutions to a wide range of audiences with process experience
    • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel, and the ability to quickly learn other internal software systems
    • Ability to maintain confidential information in a professional manner
    • Strong written, communication and organizational skills with an attention to detail and accuracy
    • Knowledge of laws and regulations regarding food safety
Preferred Knowledge and Skills
    • Cheesemakers license
    • Cheese grading license
    • Pasteurizer operator’s license
    • HACCP, PCQI or GMP related certification
Work Environment

This position operates in an office environment. Duties and tasks will be performed both from a desk as well as travelling up to 25% of the time. This position requires a valid driver’s license and good driving record. The employee must be able to meet the travel requirements of the job. Communication will be conducted by phone, email, virtual, or face-to-face. Small business atmosphere where all employees are cross-trained and may be required to perform multiple job duties throughout the business day. Employees are encouraged to take initiative on continuous improvement projects.

Salary and Compensation

Full-time position: salary is dependent on experience with a competitive benefits package.
